V3 RECRUITMENT FEATURES ON ITV
V3 Recruitment was proud to be featured on ITV this week, joining an important discussion about the ongoing challenges faced by workers aged 50 to 64 in today's labour market.
New figures from the Centre for Ageing Better reveal that workers in this age group continue to experience significant barriers to employment. There remains a 14-percentage-point gap in employment rates between those aged 5064 and those aged 3549 and worryingly, older workers are now more likely to be unemployed than they were a year ago.
This comes as the UK's overall unemployment rate reaches a four-year high of 4.5%, raising vital questions about how the country can better support over-50s in returning to, or staying in, meaningful employment.
At V3 Recruitment, we see the value that experienced professionals bring to the workforce every day. However, age-related barriers from outdated stereotypes to health and wellbeing challenges continue to limit opportunities for too many capable people.
During our ITV appearance, we also touched on the often-overlooked topic of the menopause in the workplace. This is a key issue affecting many women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond, and one that deserves greater awareness and practical support from employers. Open conversations, flexible policies, and inclusive leadership can make a genuine difference to retention and wellbeing.
As the labour market evolves, addressing these barriers isn't just the right thing to do it's also a crucial part of solving the UK's wider workforce and skills challenges.
At V3, we're committed to helping employers tap into the experience, reliability, and knowledge that older workers bring, while promoting inclusive recruitment practices that ensure everyone has a fair chance to thrive.
