My client, a UK leading Timber Supplier group, is looking to engage an experienced Mill Foreman to work with the Warehouse Manager, Brand Sales Manager and Stock Managers to seek continuous improvements in the service offered by the company, as well as effectively manage and motivate all the mill staff and provide all users of the mill a clean, tidy, well organised and safe environment that exceeds required specifications.

You will be expected…
*To update drawing ‘bible’.
*To advise Sales Manager of machine times for complicated jobs.
*To purchase consumables for mill, e.g. tooling and lubricants, with priced requisitions.
*To be responsible for all wood working equipment throughout the site, machinery, extraction, handling equipment, etc.
*To select, appraise, discipline, coach and arrange the necessary training for all staff to develop them and the efficiency of the mill, and when required train New Malden yard staff in use of woodworking machines.
*To organise mill staff to carry out boiler and ‘silo’ maintenance, advising Accounts of times.
*To arrange for the sharpening of tooling.
*To record and analyse our production to ensure we have the best equipment for the job.
*To inspect and maintain all woodworking machines, grinding equipment and extraction plant on site in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation. To arrange monthly ‘in house’ maintenance and external servicing/repair as appropriate and keep up to date records of such. Major repairs or replacements to be by prior agreement with Warehouse Manager.
*To provide input in conjunction with Warehouse Manager into the implications for A W Champion Ltd of changes to woodworking machine and other relevant Health and Safety Legislation as requested by Health & Safety Administrator.
*To provide expert advice to Branch Managers regarding particular problems they may have in respect of woodworking machines or jobs.

Skills Required
*Producing a template.
*Grinding cutters from a template.
*Sharpening cutters for the moulders, and setting them up in the blocks to the required standards.
*Setting up and operating all New Malden mill machinery.
*Maintaining and monitoring the maintenance of all Woodworking Machinery on site.
*Leadership skills: Role of being a team leader, Communication and influencing skills, Planning, Monitoring & Delegating, Managing change, Performance Management, Coaching skills, Presentation skills, Interview Techniques.
*Participating in the content and application of Safe Systems of Work Risk Assessments.
*Comprehensive knowledge of the content of our Health & Safety Policy, Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Terms and conditions.
*Qualified First Aider
